SRNL’s Environmental and Legacy Management Directorate (ELM) is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Senior Manager for the Advanced Materials and Process Technology group.
This leadership position provides oversight of personnel who support crosscutting research and developmental activities. Candidate will also demonstrate experience with laboratory facility management for safe and secure mission execution, proposal development in the materials and industrial energy efficiency space, managing and leading employees to deliver high performance results, fostering and maintaining a collaborative work environment, assisting leadership in the development of strategic growth plans, external customer engagement, and general understanding of DOE nuclear processes.
Responsibilities
Achieves goals by directing, guiding and managing the work of others. Management responsibilities include performance appraisals, budget, pay reviews, training and development. Position focus is on managing others and applying operational or strategic management skills. Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources; typically, is responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization where formal authority is not held.
- Solves complex problems using a sequential system.
- Strengthens alliances with other directorates to create opportunities internally and externally.
- Advanced communications skills used to lead a team and support business development.
- Understands the role of the function and how it fits into meeting the goals of the group and directorate.
- Expertise in their discipline and understands these concepts in other disciplines.

- Initiates improvements for the group
- Assesses circumstances using experience and a variety of information gathered to help the group deliver value and improve operations.
- Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. Maintain appropriate level government security clearance
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Engineering disciples, with 6+ yrs. relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Engineering disciples

About The Team
SRNL’s Environmental & Legacy Management (ELM) Directorate closely collaborates with the Department of Energy (DOE) and site contractors to develop, mature, and apply science and technology needed to resolve environmental challenges and advance legacy management missions. As the lead laboratory for Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Legacy Management (DOE-LM), SRNL applies our talent and expertise to develop and deploy innovative approaches and technologies to reduce risk, cost, and schedule of environmental cleanup and nuclear material processing. Additionally, ELM is using our competencies to develop new materials and processes for a range of clean energy applications.
