Job Description
SRNL's Global Security Division is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join a collaborative project between SRNL and the University of Georgia. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge research at the intersection of machine learning, deep learning, statistics, and text mining / analytics. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research in the areas of fake news detection and prediction using text and image analysis.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research in machine learning, deep learning, and statistics, with a focus on text mining and fake news detection.
- Develop and implement novel algorithms and methodologies for analyzing textual and visual data.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from SRNL and University of Georgia to address research challenges and achieve project goals.
- Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
- Mentor graduate students and contribute to the academic environment of the University of Georgia.
- Mentor PhD, MS or UGR researchers that have a temp or full time position at SRNL and contribute to the SRNL research environment.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in text mining, particularly in the context of fake news detection and prediction.
- Track record of publications in reputable conferences and journals.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be a US Citizen to obtain security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity and experience with natural language processing techniques
- Experience in image analysis and processing.
- Previous collaboration with government or industry partners.

The Global Security Directorate (GSD) of SRNL provides a team focused on staff development and infrastructure upgrades for nuclear reprocessing science and technology programs at SRNL.
