Responsibilities
The Y12 National Security Complex, simply known as Y12, has three primary national security missions that protect our country and our allies around the world. Maintaining the US nuclear weapons stockpile, reducing global threats, and fueling the US Navy’s nuclear propulsion program are the key activities at this historic site.

As the Administrative Payroll Specialist, you’ll perform a full range of office management and administrative functions in support of the Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Project and the Direct-hire Craft assigned to the UPF Project.
- The position’s primary focus will be timekeeping and managing record systems for craft attendance and payroll.
- Coordinates payroll issues; compiles, assembles, and distributes information packages for craft status meeting; as well as assists with development and management of an Access database for Q-clearance, as necessary.
- Prepares a variety of written materials, including badge requests, medical appointments, craft requisitions and referrals, and timesheets; establishing and managing records systems; providing advice on proper application of company policies and procedures (hiring/fit for duty); assuring compliance with office procedures and guidelines as well as related activities such as assisting in planning and monitoring action item lists, coordinating a variety of craft hiring, discipline, payroll, and termination services.
- Assists in the management of information flow and communications with external Knoxville Building and Construction Trades Council (KBCTC), UPF Human Resources, UPF Training, and UPF Construction] as well as internal contacts (CNS Construction, Project Controls, Payroll, and Occupational Health Services).
- Assist with daily reports, inputs craft time into OneTime™.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma.
- A minimum of 4 – 6 years of relevant professional experience in an office environment (a strong knowledge of payroll timekeeping is a plus.
- Must be US citizen.
- Must pass a drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance or security access badge.

Starting compensation for this role typically
salary ranges between $56,000 to $61,000 USD annually is commensurate with experience relative to the position and may vary.
