Aftermarket Product Manager
The Aftermarket Product Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team through the entire life cycle of aftermarket aircraft products at Aeronautical Accessories from concept to retirement. This role coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure technical, regulatory, and market alignment. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, business case development, market analysis, and lifecycle management to deliver certified, customer-focused solutions that drive growth in the aviation aftermarket.
What you’ll be doing as an Aftermarket Product Manager
- Lead and manage the development project for new aftermarket aircraft products from initial concept into launch and sustainment.
- Facilitate New Product Development recurring meetings at a frequency determined by the business environment.
- Prepare business cases, including coordination of non-recurring efforts (engineering and production), sales market data, and estimated manufacturing cost. The inputs will be provided by the functional department representatives
- Maintain new product concepts through the approval process until Engineering initiates an active project.
- Collaborate with engineering design, marketing, sales, finance, production support, manufacturing and regulatory teams to ensure smooth and coordinated product development and introduction.
- Participate in design and production reviews as well as coordinate with Sales and Marketing to ensure that technical market analysis identifying trends, customer needs, competitive products, product roadmaps & IR&D priorities.
- In collaboration with the stakeholders, develop a statement of work that defines the customer and regulatory requirements.
- Develop short- & long-term product strategies, including lifecycle management (new, sustaining, and end of life).
- Analyze product performance, including volume, margin, and pricing.
- Manage/monitor potential obsolescence issues that could impact customers and identify product gaps and opportunities for new solutions.
- Travel 10% of the time.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills You Bring To This Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/production engineering, aerospace engineering, business administration, or other related major.
- 10+ years of experience with product development, engineering, business development/aftermarket sales, production, industrial/production engineering, and/or project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management and continuous improvement software/tools.
- In-depth knowledge of aftermarket products.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations, rotorcraft products and/or aviation industry experience preferred.
- Ability to identify and anticipate market opportunities and needs for customers.
- A proactive individual with a strong drive for results and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects.
- Project management skills and skilled in communicating effectively with team members and supervisors, and to prepare and present reports to senior management.
- Lean Six Sigma/Operational Excellence Certification preferred.
- PMI Certification in traditional or agile project management preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office and light industrial environment, including time spent in engineering, production, and hangar areas.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move between office, production, and meeting spaces throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move materials, documents, laptops, and product samples up to approximately 20–25 lbs as needed.
- Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to travel by air and ground transportation up to approximately 10% of the time to customer locations, suppliers, and internal sites.
