The MRO Coordinator is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing all Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials required to support Maintenance, Controls Engineering, and Facilities operations. This role ensures timely availability of critical spare parts, manages vendor relationships, maintains accurate inventory levels, and supports storeroom organization and process improvement. The MRO Buyer plays a key role in reducing downtime, improving PM completion rates, and supporting overall plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Source, quote, and purchase all MRO parts, supplies, and services for Maintenance, Controls, and Facilities.
- Track open orders, expedite critical items, and resolve delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and approval workflows.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance and recommend preferred suppliers.
- Consolidate spend to leverage volume pricing and reduce total cost.
- Monitor lead times and communicate proactively with internal stakeholders.
Inventory & Storeroom Support
- Maintain accurate min/max levels for critical spare parts.
- Reduce stockouts and emergency orders through proactive planning.
- Support storeroom organization, labeling, and layout improvements.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Build PM kits, project kits, and standard spare part packages.
Maintenance & Reliability Support
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Controls teams to understand equipment needs and BOM requirements.
- Ensure parts availability for scheduled PMs and planned work.
- Support reliability initiatives by identifying critical spares and optimizing inventory strategy.
- Assist in CMMS data cleanup, part standardization, and vendor catalog integration.
Cost Control & Reporting
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities
- Track and report MRO spend by category, vendor, and department.
- Reduce expedited freight and emergency purchasing through improved planning.
- Provide monthly purchasing metrics and performance updates.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 2–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with MRO procurement, industrial parts, or maintenance operations strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of industrial components, electrical parts, mechanical systems, and facility supplies.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with CMMS, ERP, or purchasing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions

- Occasional vendor visits or off‑site sourcing as needed
