Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Operations Support Specialist and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills to document evaluation activities, conduct trend analyses, and present findings to all levels of management. This position involves coordinating continuous improvement activities, influencing positive cultural change, and ensuring that all operations procedures are properly revised and validated. The work requires a blend of independent project management and collaborative engagement to drive process execution, quality, and safety across the site.
Role Expectations
- Demonstrated experience coordinating, tracking, and record keeping.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are mandatory.
- Must be familiar with procedural compliance, and be familiar with Operations processes, systems and programs.
- Must have audit/surveillance and report writing experience.
- Demonstrated experience using or managing a budget.
- Experience completing and submitting purchase requisitions.
- Ability to create, prioritize, and execute scheduled tasks.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Wide range of computer skills to include implementation of requirements or enhancements for Records Management-related applications.
- Ability to solve issues or problems based on experience, professional concepts, and organizational objectives.
- Ability to deliver clear and concise communications to employees, managers of all levels.
- Knowledge using Documentum and other Records Management tools.
- Work in a configuration management environment.
- Work in records management required to satisfy DOE regulatory, legal, and contractual requirements, RCRA and NMED requirements/activities directing program team to furnish complete historical records of project operations.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree, or
- Associate’s degree with four (4) years of office/clerical experience,or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of office/clerical experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
- Nuclear or high-hazard facility experience.
- Preference given to candidates with experience/proficiency with assessment programs/methodologies including planning and performing assessments.
- The ideal candidate will be familiar with DOE Directives, Standards, and Guides.
- WIPP or DOE-related experience.

Exempt grade level(s) 28-30. Salary range: $70,972 to $123,573 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
