Job Family Description
Maintenance/production personnel support the operational success of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, buildings, systems, and shops. Professionals in these roles are responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of equipment, machinery, and production processes to meet quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Discipline Description
Maintenance managers oversee the maintenance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of critical infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient operations in the highly regulated nuclear environment. They lead teams responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, work planning, and asset management to support mission objectives while adhering to federal and contractual safety standards. Managers collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory personnel to implement maintenance best practices, optimize system performance, and address facility needs proactively. They are accountable for budget management, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency and ensure long-term asset sustainability. They drive a strong safety culture, ensuring all maintenance activities align with customer directives, environmental regulations, and nuclear safety protocols.
Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include
Provide leadership, direction and management for all Site Services Subcontract activities. Analyze and interpret the Site's Integrated Schedule to understand sequencing priorities. Translate these interpretations into responsive strategies, processes, practices and execution plans. Implement the strategic plan for transformation of all elements of the Subcontracted needs for SRS physical infrastructure, including the flexibility for continuous evolution to adapt to rapidly changing current and future mission needs. Direct personnel and financial resources, including determining staffing requirements. Directly interface with Procurement management to ensure contract integrity and financial obligations for receipts/accruals are met. Develop and justify budget and personnel needs and manage activities to control costs. Meet changing mission needs by initiating and justifying change control to re-prioritize or reschedule current activities or reallocate resources to meet emerging needs. Mentor all managers and ensure career development opportunities. Fully understand all Site contract requirements and develop strategies to support mission accomplishment. Includes direct interface with DOE-SR, NNSA and SRNS senior executive staff and program managers. Working with facility and project management, meet facility milestones for operations, production, deactivation and decommissioning activities and programs and establish mutual priorities. Train and develop the workforce, ensuring consistent and reputable training and qualification data with emphasis on cross-training and maximizing flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Fifteen or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus six or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus twelve or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
We'd Also Like to See
- B.S. in Business Management, Technical Manager, or related field and 15 years experience in a DOE or other industrial facility, or commercial business enterprise with 8 years of professional and/or management experience or equivalent education/training and experience.
- Must have a broad infrastructure technical base. Must be able to apply technical skills to infrastructure programs and processes.
- Must understand site, business units, Procurement Peoplesoft fundamentals, and department organizational structures and management practices.
- The position requires advanced people skills, dealing with a broad range of personalities, cultural backgrounds, and education. Advanced skills in technical writing, personnel relations and time management are required.
- Position requires comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure systems, facilities and technologies.
- Because this position is directly responsible for subcontracted maintenance, SOW technical needs and capital project functions for a broad range of facilities, it requires expanded management experience achieved through diverse prior assignments.
- Requires a high level of communication skills- oral, written, listening and cognitive.
- Prior demonstrated ability in influence management, skills of persuasion, planning, organizing, and time management.
- Previous assignments with responsibilities for Subcontracting operations, project management, operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, financial and personnel management is desired.
- Previous site experience is very desirable.

Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
