Job Title: Industrial Hygienist / Safety Professional – Level 5
Pay Rate: $81.07/hr
Duration: 12 months (starting 06/01/2026)
Location: Oak Ridge, TN – Onsite
Schedule: Full-time; normal hours Monday–Thursday, 06:00–16:30. Some overtime Monday–Sunday may occur.
Position Summary
HukariAscendent is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist / Safety Professional (Level 5) to support operations within the ESH division at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. This is a full-time, onsite role requiring a minimum of 2,500 hours for the fiscal year. The selected candidate will replace an existing staff augmentation position and must bring deep expertise in industrial safety and health practices within a DOE/government environment.
Description of Duties
- Perform project oversight inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Conduct hazard assessments for a wide range of operational and construction activities
- Perform accident and injury investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development
- Review and evaluate safety-related documents, procedures, and plans
- Attend and participate in various project and operational meetings
- Perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and stairs, working in hot and cold environments, and operating a motor vehicle on site
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) plus 20 or more years of direct Industrial Hygiene or Safety experience
- Demonstrated expertise as a Fellow-level Engineer / Scientist / Safety Professional (Level 5)
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work in varying environmental conditions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Clearance Required)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle on site
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within DOE, NNSA, or other federal nuclear or defense facilities
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation
- Familiarity with CNS (Consolidated Nuclear Security) or Y-12/Pantex operational environments
- Advanced degree (MA/MS) in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline with 19+ years of experience
