At the Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford Site through the remediation of the Central Plateau and the protection of the Columbia River.
As we continue this mission, we are seeking a creative and strategic visual Communications Specialist to join our team in Richland, WA. This graphic designer role is a unique opportunity to lead the visual identity of one of the nation's most complex environmental cleanup projects.
A day in the life of a Communications Specialist includes, but is not limited to:
- Visual Strategy & Branding:
Under general supervision, lead the evolution of CPCCo's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communication tools. Apply in-depth knowledge and expertise in graphic design, along with a working knowledge of related communications disciplines.
Conceptualize and execute a wide range of creative products -- including professional marketing collateral, social media content, newsletters, fact sheets, and signage. Demonstrate experience in leading marketing campaigns and developing branding packages from concept to final production. Apply best practices, identify opportunities for product and process improvement, and leverage advanced skills in graphic design.
Directly support senior leadership by creating visual materials that communicate complex progress and challenges associated with demolishing legacy nuclear facilities and remediating waste sites. Solve complex communication needs using both innovative and established solutions. Utilize experience in photography, videography, and basic Associated Press style to deliver clear and compelling materials.
- Collaborative Innovation:
Partner with technical subject matter experts to design infographics and layouts that make technical material accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. Integrate knowledge of AI tools into visual communications product development and rollout. Serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience, providing guidance and sharing expertise across the team.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting frequent on-demand deadlines in a fast-paced environment and with minimal oversight. Demonstrate ability to handle assignments of moderate complexity while continuously looking for ways to improve processes and products. Maintain a high level of social media proficiency in support of organizational communications.
Basic Qualifications
- Career Level Grade 16: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Career Level Grade 17: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
- 5 years of professional experience in Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design, preferably within a highly technical or regulated industry like the DOE nuclear cleanup complex, is preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Digital Technology & Culture is preferred but not required.
- Expert proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
- Career Level Grade 16: $81,500 - $125,250.
- Career Level Grade 17: $86,200- $137,650.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
