Waste Program Administrator
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the management of radioactive, hazardous, and bio-hazardous waste generated and/or handled at the NFS site.
Location:
Onsite at Erwin, Tennessee.
Your Day to Day as a Waste Management Specialist:
- Plans, coordinates, and tracks radioactive and hazardous waste generated and/or handled by Decommissioning, Engineering and plant operations.
- Provides project support and direction for the timely and cost-effective packaging, handling, storage, and disposition of radioactive and hazardous wastes to comply with plant procedures, regulations and disposal site requirements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of regulations, waste processing services, and disposal site acceptance criteria.
- Executes the program for control of treatability studies and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinates sampling efforts and performs hazardous waste determinations. Prepares the annual hazardous waste report.
- Maintains plant waste handling procedures and approves pertinent letters of authorization.
- Coordinates and prepares waste profiles for disposal/processing acceptance.
- Manages the program for procurement and control of waste containers.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science or Environmental related field with 9 years’ experience in waste handling, packaging, manifesting, and disposal site criteria. Ability to interface and coordinate with other departments and hourly personnel OR 17 years of equivalent experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
Must have a working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and radioactive waste management pertaining to the packaging and management of hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste.

Pay: $86,000 - $136,000
The base salary range for this position in at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
