Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Spot Opportunities for Growth: Dive into the value stream to identify improvement opportunities aligned with BWXT’s KPIs and strategic objectives.
- Project Leadership (DMAIC): Lead and execute complex, cross‑functional process‑improvement projects that deliver quantifiable financial and operational gains.
- Lead Kaizen Events: Assemble teams, facilitate engaging Process Kaizen events, and document outcomes to drive meaningful enhancements and sustainment.
- Define & Clarify Value: Partner with functional leaders to define customer value and increase effectiveness across the organization.
- Visualize Success: Use Value Stream Mapping and Process Mapping to distinguish between Value‑Add (VA) and Non‑Value‑Add (NVA) activities.
- Eliminate Waste: Collaborate across all levels to systematically identify and remove waste using visual management, 5S, and standard work principles.
- Data‑Driven Problem Solving: Perform advanced statistical analysis (e.g., Minitab, hypothesis testing, regression) to identify root causes and validate solutions.
- Mentorship & Training: Coach Green/Yellow Belts and project teams; assist in developing and delivering Kaizen and Lean Six Sigma training to build internal capability.
- Strategic Alignment: Support the organizational OpEx strategy, ensure consistent deployment, and promote standardization and operational discipline across corporate functions.
Required Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in continuous improvement.
- Lean Six Sigma Proficiency: Black Belt certification required (e.g., ASQ, IASSC).
- Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated potential for leadership and the ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships.
- Proactive Implementer: Comfortable managing multiple Kaizen events simultaneously and delivering within deadlines.
- Problem Solving with Ease: Ability to lead teams through challenging situations and propose impactful, data‑supported improvements.
- On‑Site Role: Preference to work at our Lynchburg corporate office; other options considered case‑by‑case.

Pay: $65,000 - $103,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $65,000 and $103,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
