Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Conduct of Operations Specialist to work in our Special Nuclear Material Program. Our team works at 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. You will utilize specialized operational, technical knowledge and experience to provide leadership and support to assigned facilities. Collaborate with facility and nuclear material managers, researchers, and engineers on complex operational activities, nuclear material management and disposition activities, nuclear material inventory planning and coordinating, and help develop and maintain operating procedures. Responsibilities: - Plan and execute disposition of scrap nuclear material from fuel fabrication processes. Manage waste cost work packages. - Execute strategic and tactical planning to manage nuclear material inventories in heavily utilized facilities. - Oversee packaging and coordinate onsite and offsite transfers of nuclear waste and various nuclear materials. Shipping hazardous materials in Type A and Type B shipping packages. - Compliance with environmental regulations for waste characterization and waste acceptance criteria. - Coordinate disposition and material movements with Nuclear Operations, Waste Generator Services, Safeguards and Security, Packaging and Transportation, and Radiological Controls ensuring requirements of each organization are met. - Interface with support organizations including Nuclear Operations, Waste Generator Services, Safeguards and Security, Packaging and Transportation, and Radiological Control. - Interface directly with and may provide work direction for safe and compliant completion of scheduled work activities related to nuclear and/or non-nuclear operations, including following procedural requirements, instructions, and work control. - Enable the safe conduct of research and/or work by managing work control process(es) in assigned area of focus. - Coordinate work control development and implementation. - Compile data, analyze, prepare periodic reports, and oversee waste documentation and forms. - Conduct assessments, review performance trends, and review programs for compliance issues and identify areas for improvement. Implement regulations, company policies, guidance, and procedures to enable efficiencies and continuous improvement. Advise management on associated corrective actions. - Initiate and ensure completeness of documents. Ensure that business, program, legal, environmental, and regulatory system requirements are appropriately incorporated into program/processes. - Prepare files for document management, maintain database or work control documents, and perform data tracking and analyses on review metrics. - Identify, propose, and implement work control process improvements. Conduct research, gather, analyze, and assemble information to determine impacts associated with projects and programs. - Anticipate and identify risks to successful execution of work and notify management of any potential issues that could impact performance. - Address and resolve functional and technical issues by collaborating with the appropriate laboratory SMEs to achieve success. - May serve as the primary point of contact for nuclear material management and disposition. - May provide oversight and guidance to junior staff. - Other duties as assigned.
