What You'll Do
- Plans, leads and implements new processes and techniques; manages, directs, assigns and coordinates the activities of subordinates; and investigates defects, analyzes problems utilizing data, statistics and trends, and recommends solutions, disposition or corrective action. Performs duties of Metrology calibration lab operation manager, including: supervising technicians, managing Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) and Standards Calibrations, managing laboratory resources, approving Calibration Failure Notification forms, managing calibration interval adjustments, and assisting with development of calibration procedures.
- The employee's primary duty is management of the enterprise, or of a customarily recognized department or subdivision thereof, and includes duties, such as: interviewing, selecting, and training employees; setting and adjusting work hours; maintaining production records; appraising employee productivity and grievances; disciplining employees, and planning and apportioning work among employees.
- The employee customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more employees (meaning two full-time employees or their equivalent (equivalent means, for example, one full-time employee and two half-time employees is the equivalent of two full-time employees).
- The employee must have the authority to hire or fire other employees or participate in that process by making suggestions and recommendations thereto, which are given particular weight, meaning they must be made with reasonable degree of frequency, and then relied upon in the decision-making process.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering or a related scientific field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 15 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of Department of Energy (DOE) O 426.2A (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements
- Metrology or related experience in electronic tester, or meter fabrication/calibration, weapons design, aircraft, or electromechanical Quality Assurance (QA)/manufacturing equipment environment is preferred.
- Ability to perform computer programming using general purpose languages such as Delphi or C++, or familiarity with calibration-specific software development environments such as MOX scripting, LabVIEW, Met/Cal, PC DMIS, or Quindos is desirable, but not required.
- Extensive knowledge of Metrology principles and requirements provided in International Organization of Standards (ISO) 17025, such as traceability, recall systems, laboratory environments, closed-loop calibration, tolerance and uncertainty, records and documentation, calibration intervals, equipment maintenance and calibration methods, knowledge of computer technology related to test and measurement automation; and knowledge of software quality assurance procedures. Ability to investigate safety and operational issues; ability to interpret technical, safety, operational and maintenance requirements to ensure compliance; ability to requisition test equipment, tools, supplies and services; ability to perform Building Manager duties; ability to manage, direct and coordinate activities in a highly specialized measurement standards and calibration environment; ability to train and supervise technicians in the performance of activities related to calibration of commercial equipment, tooling and testers requiring precision measurements; thorough understanding of exacting calibration techniques and methodologies utilizing precision instruments utilized in the Metrology Department

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
