What You'll Do
- Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
- Collaborates with engineering laboratory and production functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Analyzes inspection and testing processes and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess, control, and manage risks of product quality and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- May undertake root cause analysis of incidents requiring corrective action.
- Ensures that corrective measures and deviation meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Provides input to areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
- Applies quality methodologies and utilizes quality tools to help drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- PhD.
- OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 12 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
DOE Order 426.2A Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of Department of Energy (DOE) O 426.2A (i.e., 1 year job-related experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Current or previous certification as a Lead Auditor.
- Knowledge in requirements such as DOE O 414.1D, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME NQA-1), National Nuclear Security Administration Policy (NAP) 401.1A, International Organization for Standardization(ISO):9001, American Society for Quality (AS/ASQ) 9100X, American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/ISO International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 17025.
- American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector Certification.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
