BWXT is seeking a Network Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
We are seeking a Network Engineer to join BWXT’s innovative and growing IT Infrastructure team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the enterprise network infrastructure for BWXT with a focus at our Lynchburg Mt. Athos facilities. Candidates must be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent multitasking skills, and should be comfortable working in a large, high-security, manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Provides daily support for local area network services.
- Works with our Manufacturing Systems teams to design and properly segment operational technology (production) traffic.
- Plans network maintenance activities for the LAN infrastructure to support our ability to stay current with software patches and features to support the business, including emergency patching for critical vulnerabilities.
- Monitors end of life/end of support cycles for the various platforms and proposes projects to refresh the hardware to allow the company to remain supported.
- Oversees and supports network elements related to CMMC certification and requirements
- Works closely with the company's information security department on ensuring the LAN is protected from malicious activity.
- Provides technical design, implementation, documentation and operational leadership for all aspects of networking.
- Automates routine network tasks to improve efficiency and free up time for strategic initiatives.
- Provides daily support for voice and video systems for US sites.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, plus a minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience, that includes 5 years of network experience in a professional environment.
- Solid understanding of switching, firewalls, STP, VLANs, VPNs, Trunks, and ACLs.
- Understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI stack and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
- Familiarity dealing with multiple sites and end user support/help desk.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong desire to learn and take on new challenges for self-development and to help to contribute to operations at a higher level.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Ability to obtain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of network experience in a professional environment, including 6 years of overall IT experience
- Incident and Problem Management Experience.
- CCNA certification.
- CMMC Compliance experience.
- Cloud Network experience in one or more of the three (3) major cloud platforms.

Pay: $66,000 - $101,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $66,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
