A Student Assistant position is immediately available in the Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science Division. The role focuses on computational materials science and machine learning applications, with an emphasis on strongly correlated condensed matter systems.
This position will be for 3 months
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a prototype neural network model for modeling strongly correlated materials.
- Implement and experiment with models using PyTorch and TensorFlow frameworks.
- Collaborate with team members to evaluate and refine model performance.
- Document code, experiments, and results clearly and consistently.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Recent completion of a bachelor’s or master's degree within the last semester, or current enrollment in a graduate program in physics or a related field (e.g., engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, or computer science) with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Good understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and condensed matter physics.
- ·Strong programming skills, particularly in scientific computing and machine learning.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated research experience in computational physics, machine learning, or related areas.
- Practical experience in developing novel AI/ML models and algorithms.
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary research environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
