Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
Quality Assurance Oversight Program Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will direct the Quality Assurance (QA) Oversight Programs for the QA Department to verify programmatic, technical, and statutory compliance related to the WIPP and National TRU Programs. Provides guidance and oversight in the performance of quality engineering, and quality control and inspection for receipt of materials, facility and equipment maintenance and modification, and construction activities. Directs vendor source inspections for fabrication activities including developing oversite strategies and inspection plans. Conducts and directs the review of Engineering, Procurement, and Work Control documents. Participates in and directs review of performance documents (e.g. program description documents, plans, procedures). Directs and conducts review of procurement documents to ensure inclusion of appropriate quality requirements. Ensures departmental nondestructive examination programmatic support.
Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years of related experience, or
- Associate’s degree with fourteen (14) years of related experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eighteen (18) years of related experience is required.
- Experience must include at least five (5) years of supervisory/management experience.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements
- Broad nuclear QA background with quality control, inspection and QA programs experience on operating facilities and construction projects.
- Multi-discipline background (civil, mechanical, electrical, special processes, NDE) preferred.
- Familiarity with Nuclear Quality Assurance NQA-1 and 10 CFR 830.122 is a plus.
- Broad knowledge of quality assurance, regulatory policies and requirements, DOE orders, and plant processes preferred. Experience in DOE nuclear facility desired.
- WIPP experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in inspection program/plan/procedure development.

Exempt grade level(s) 36-38. Minimum salary $131,144 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
