ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The mission of the Stakeholder Relations Office is to develop best-in-class communications, science education, and community involvement programs that advance the Laboratory’s research and science education missions. The Office of Workforce Development and Science Education administers a variety of summer programming through its Pre-College Programs.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Assist lead instructor(s) for the Office of Workforce Development and Science Education STEM Summer programs such as but not limited to STEM Prep Summer Institute and Summer Science Explorations. This position is on-site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support lead instructor with facilitation as needed.
- Support lead instructor in program preparation as needed.
- Enforce BNL safety regulations and program expectations.
- Assist in program development as needed.
- Support students and lead instructor in program deliverables.
- Chaperone during on-site and/or off-site activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be an upper-level college or graduate-level student enrolled in a STEM or STEM education program.
- Ability to work collaboratively and committed to supporting students working in group settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant supporting summer STEM programming at a Department of Energy National Laboratory
- Previous experience teaching or assisting in a formal (classroom) or informal (out-of-school) learning environment.
OTHER INFORMATION:
- The STEM Summer Teaching Assistant will be required to attend the program orientation and organizational meetings as scheduled.
- This position is On-Site.
- The target start date is 7/7/25 and an end date of 8/8/25.
- Temporary/Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday.)
