Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Safety Analyst to work in our Facility Safety Engineering department. Our team works at the Materials and Fuels Complex with a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off. You will report to the Nuclear Safety Engineering Manager, and you will manage the nuclear facility document safety analyses (DSAs) and technical safety requirements (TSRs) updates, revisions, or creation to ensure compliance to 10 CFR 830 Subpart B. Responsibilities Include: - Develop or be the contact in the development of nuclear facility safety analyses and documentation for major modification of existing facilities, upgrading safety basis of existing facilities, or new facilities. Specify, perform, and define detailed accident analyses. Evaluate Select and Obtain DSA commitments and TSRs from analytical assumptions and results. - Prepare documented safety analysis (DSA) and technical safety requirements (TSRs) revisions to support annual updates and safety basis revision and to resolve safety basis issues. Ensure revisions reflect the facility configuration, establish the necessary documentation, are consistent with existing documentation, and establish the necessary controls. - Implement unreviewed safety question (USQ) process for proposed facility and procedure changes and new information. Implement discovery USQ process, including potential inadequacies in the documented safety analysis (PISAs). Develop interim operating restrictions, develop corrective action or resolution plans, and evaluate and document the safety of the situation. - Manage personal assigned tasks on nuclear facility DSA and TSRs updates, revisions, or creation. Management includes establishing interface agreements with other organizations, tracking and reporting status, and ensuring projects meet schedule commitments. Support implementation of the updated, upgraded, revised, or new DSAs and TSRs for nuclear facilities to ensure that TSRs and DSA commitments are adequately implemented in facility procedures. - Support nuclear facility operation which includes reviews of routine and abnormal operating procedures and operational events for the facility safety basis and reviews of facility modifications and long-range planning for safety enhancements. - Obtain TSRs and coordinate and document identification of safety analysis commitments. Ensure necessary controls are identified to prevent or avoid the release of hazardous or radioactive material. - Conduct facility (including irradiation program facilities) hazard identification, assessment, and accident analyses and classification. Ensure that all hazards are identified and that adequately addressed, and that hazard identification, assessment and analyses are adequately documented.
