Overview:
We are seeking a HFIR Shift Supervisor, which is responsible and accountable for the supervision of the High Flux Isotope Reactor(HFIR) shift operations. This position reports to the HFIR Operations Section Head and interfaces with all levels within the Research Reactors Division. This position resides in the HFIR Operations Section, Research Reactors Division, Neutron Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Operation:

Designated as the single point of control for authorizing, directing, supervising, and monitoring plant operations activities.

In general, maintains the workplace in a safe condition, ensuring that operators receive adequate instructions on safety, health, and environmental policies and practices. Emphasizes accident prevention as a part of the daily work plan and provides leadership in following safe practices.

Work Control and Planning:

Authorizes the on-shift activities of operations and maintenance groups to accomplish the operating objectives for the shift stated in the POD.

Authorizes the removal and return to service of equipment and systems for maintenance and testing, or operational activities.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
