Job Description 

You will participate in the coordination and administration of assigned configuration management activities relative to the control, maintenance, and documentation of design requirements; technical document control, e.g., blueprints, operating manuals; and change control for new or modified engineering systems or equipment in accordance with contractual and/or regulatory requirements.

• Develop modern processes, procedures, instructions, guidance, and tools to establish and maintain configuration management within assigned program(s).
• Establish and maintain consistency between design requirements, physical configuration, and documentation (including analysis, drawings, and procedures) for assigned system requirements and physical equipment.
• Integrate configuration management into other business processes that could, through an unmanaged change, impact the safety basis of a Structure, Systems and Components (SSC) or the configuration of data inputs or physical facility configurations that could lead to safety concerns or issues (e.g. Fire Department responding to a space that is not aligned with iMaps information).
• Identify opportunities to streamline programmatic execution using various tools and processes.
• Provide integration and collaboration between engineering and scientific staff with the business and project support functions of a major capital acquisition project. Provide broad technical engineering collaboration duties and leadership in support of rapidly growing program(s). Work with staff to provide expertise in support of the development and maintenance of collaboration, engineering, and lifecycle management tools along with other similar information technology solutions.
• Establish and deploy aspects of the assigned design process (i.e., engineering design or space design, etc.), configuration management, and resulting documentation.
• Collaborate with professionals, management, and/or other staff within the laboratory and with subcontracted teaming partners. Primary point of contact with both internal and external team members and customers.
• Perform other specific technical tasks independently and as part of a team as necessary to support program(s).
• Select methods and techniques necessary to obtain desired results.
• Function in a leadership role to mentor and develop other staff and effectively structure duties to establish desired program objectives. Mentor other staff members to develop routine and one-time deliverables to high standards and on schedule. Mentor staff regarding support to program(s) through professional experience gained from prior positions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Level 2: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution + 2 years’ experience or HS and 8 years relevant experience.  Relevant experience includes working in a nuclear environment with incremental increase in operational, administrative, or maintenance experience. 
• Relevant technical and engineering support experience in configuration management commensurate with level.
• Proficiency in MS Office, database development and management, and web content management.
• Computer skills including the ability to do spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentations, and graphics.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
• Depending on the assigned directorate, may be required to obtain and maintain certifications of the human reliability program (HRP).

Must meet the following physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and may work in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and operating a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. 

Job Information:

The pay range for this position is Level 2  $56,196 - $109,644. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
