What You Will Do
Come join one of the most exciting projects at LANL in recent memory and be a part of introducing a new weapon system into the stockpile! Q-20 is seeking outstanding, organized, motivated, and self-starting individuals to provide support to the rapidly growing W93/Mk7 program and team. This is the opportunity to be part of the first new weapon system program in over 30 years. Q-20 as it sits today is a small group that will grow with the success of the program. Q-20, W93/Mk7 Systems Development and Realization Group, defines, develops, and fields the warhead system for the newest Navy sub-launched ballistic missile weapon program. We support the DoD/Navy SSP and DoE/NNSA customers in defining the mission need and corresponding technical and programmatic requirements. The W93 collaborates closely with Sandia National Laboratory and Lockheed Martin Systems design agencies, developing the re-entry system, ensuring safe, secure, & reliable warhead performance and a relevant nuclear deterrent. Q-20 also incorporates the production agency teams (KCNSC, Pantex, SRS, Y-12, LANL, and SNL) tightly into the design, qualification, and product realization processes. As a Risk Manager you will:
- Collaborate with program and technical staff to identify, develop, evaluate, and communicate candidate opportunities and threats per the National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Issue Risk and Management Plan.
- Use software tools such as Active Risk Manager (ARM), Confluence, Acumen Fuse and Acumen Risk.
- Perform quantitative schedule uncertainty risk analyses and quantitative schedule and cost risk analyses to identify, assess, and eliminate or reduce risk and cost overruns.
- Prepare brief monthly risk reports and represent LANL scope at quarterly risk reviews with NNSA (NA-125.5) and the Navy (SP-28) and other program design and production agencies.
- Maintain dashboards or statuses on the program risks for quick reference and utility
Weapon Stockpile Modernization Division (Q Division) provides systems engineering and program management to develop and field qualified engineering solutions to improve the safety, reliability, and security of our Nation's nuclear stockpile throughout the weapon life cycle.
