U-Metal Laboratory Supervisor 1 -- Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. - Erwin, TN
Supervises the operation of a laboratory on all as needed shifts and approves analytical data prior to reporting. Assures that operations are performed in a safe and compliant manner. Acts as laboratory material custodian as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Studies and understands the labor contract, lab procedures and equipment utilized in the lab area. Makes job assignments, keeps time cards updated daily and schedules overtime as needed.
- Coordinates analytical priorities with plant needs by communicating with laboratory management and other departments.
- Acts as laboratory material custodian on all shifts. Directs and performs operations to comply with material control requirements.
- Approves analytical data prior to reporting to ensure compliance with analytical and regulatory requirements.
- Monitors and evaluates lab operations and communicates this information to lab management and staff. Reports accidents, equipment issues that will impact laboratory operations, procedural deviations, and any other unusual occurrence.
- Communicates as required with Maintenance Department to identify repair needs and priority when equipment problems occur. Writes work orders, serves as Work Area Administrator and performs Lock Out/Tag Out.
- Directs and monitors hourly personnel's quality and level of performance and compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. Communicates and acts on this information as required and administers disciplinary action when required.
- Prepares transfers of wastewater to WWTF, mixed waste for disposal and sample returns to generator.
Education Requirements:
A. S. -- Science, Engineering or technical field OR four years’ laboratory supervision experience may be substituted for the A. S. Degree. Must have one year of college Chemistry or Physics.
Experience Requirements:
One to two years’ supervisory experience. In lieu of the 1-2 years required supervisory experience, a B. S. -- Science, Engineering or other technical degree without supervisory experience is acceptable.

Pay: $64,000 - $101,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
