SRNL's Global Security Directorate has an opportunity for Electrical and Computer Engineering students who are currently pursuing a graduate degree for an internship opportunity.
Internship research opportunity (Summer 2025) for graduate students with interests in Beyond-CMOS devices and unconventional computing paradigms (e.g., in-memory, neuromorphic, reservoir, etc…). The intern will support ongoing projects to develop beyond-CMOS unconventional computing paradigms for sensing and monitoring applications.
Interns are provided an exciting learning environment to develop into the next generation of professional scientists and engineers, explore cutting edge technologies, and make impactful discoveries.
Internships typically run for a 10-week period.

Responsibilities
The intern will assist projects to develop novel computing paradigms. Work scope may include reviewing the literature on unconventional computing systems and designing and simulating novel sensing Beyond-CMOS computing systems.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or higher in Electrical and Computer Engineering or other related discipline.
- Experience in electronic circuit design.
- Experience with schematic design software.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with using SPICE simulators.
- Experience in or knowledge of Beyond-CMOS devices.
- Experience in or knowledge of designing unconventional computing paradigms.
- Experience with using the command line (bash).
- Experience in or knowledge of optimization techniques and approaches.
